copy and advice for web, Internet, subscriptions and memberships

What does your 'Unsubscribe' page look like. What does it say? Who sees it?

All vital questions as I will show.

First of all: when a reader of your newsletter clicks to cancel or change his settings, what message does he receive?

Our research shows that although all legitimate websites have an 'unsubscribe' link on their free ezines, around 70% of them do not offer to change your email address. Many Internet users have more than one email address and others change ISPs, so it's important to cater for those who still wish to receive your ezine, but to direct it to a different address.

So the message: 'You have been successfully unsubscribed' although standard, doesn't help those who wish to change addresses and still receive the ezine.

Changing your unsubscribe page
So what should your unsubscribe or email change page look like? We have illustrated a 'best practice' unsubscribe page from one of the UKs fastest growing newsletter sites, illustrating how to turn what is usually a negative experience into a money-making one.
